The 20th Jubilee International Chess Festival "Aeroflot Open 2025»

The 20th Jubilee International Chess Festival "Aeroflot Open 2025" will be held in Moscow from 28 February to 7 March 2025, with 28 February as the day of arrival and 7 March as the day of departure. The prestigious event will be held at The Carlton, Moscow hotel.

The Aeroflot Open has been a trademark of Moscow chess since 2002. In 2004, it earned a place in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest chess tournament in the world. The annual competition was suspended in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2024 edition, held at The Carlton, Moscow in March, was organised by the Chess Federation of Russia with the support of Aeroflot. The event attracted prominent grandmasters as well as up-and-coming young talents. The main tournament brought together 150 players out of 12 countries, while the Youth Cup of Russia stage was attended by 329 aspiring young chess players. Iranian grandmaster Amin Tabatabaei emerged as the winner of the main tournament.
