Hans Niemann and Aram Hakobyan Lead Race at Aeroflot Open 2025

Rounds 4 and 5 of the Aeroflot Open 2025 jubilee festival were underway at the Carlton Hotel, Moscow on Monday, March 3.

The day ended with Aram Hakobyan (Armenia) and Hans Niemann (USA) leading the tournament. The leaders have 4.5 points each.

Eight competitors are half a point behind them: Russia's Aleksey Goganov, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Andrey Esipenko, Aleksandr Shimanov, Evgeniy Najer, Richard Rapport (Hungary), Raunak Sadhwani (India), and Bardiya Daneshvar (Iran).

In addition to the main event, the Aeroflot Open - Children tournament is also underway.

Nikolay Kleimenov and Artem Tsepilov have scored 4 points in the B13 category. Alisa Genrietta Yunker and Mariya Mukhorina are leading the race in the G13 tournament with 4 points.

In the B15 group, Adrian Sanchez-Shananin has scored 4 points. In the G15 group, Diana Preobrazhenskaya has got 5 points.

Round 6 will take place on Tuesday, March 4, starting at 3 PM.

The "Aeroflot Open" is organised by the Chess Federation of Russia (CFR) and the Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation with the support of Aeroflot. The general partner of the CFR is PhosAgro. The media partner of the tournament is a social network Odnoklassniki.
