Thursday, March 6, the final round of the jubilee chess festival "Aeroflot Open 2025" finished at The Carlton Hotel, Moscow. The overall prize fund amounted to 20,000,000 RUR.
Ian Nepomniachtchi drew Aleksey Goganov as Black. The strongest Russian grandmaster scored 7 points out of 9 to win of the tournament. It is worth remembering that he was the winner of the traditional festival in 2008, 2013 and 2015.
Richard Rapport (Hungary), Andrey Esipenko, Maxim Matlakov, Sergey Lobanov (all of Russia), Amin Tabatabaei (Iran), Aleksey Goganov (Russia), Hans Niemann (USA), and Bardiya Daneshvar (Iran) have come in half a point behind Nepomniachtchi.
Additional tiebreakers have placed Rapport and Esipenko in second and third places, respectively.
The best result among women was achieved by Polina Shuvalova (Russia), who has received a special prize from PAO Aeroflot. The tournament established additional prizes in five nominations.
At the same time, the Aeroflot Open - Children event was held for boys and girls under 13 and 15 years of age, with the participation of winners and prize-takers of international and Russian tournaments. Final standings:
