Thursday, March 7, the International chess festival "Aeroflot Open 2024" finished at The Carlton Hotel, Moscow.
142 players out of 12 countries have participated in the main tournament, while the stage of the Russian Youth Cup has gathered as many as 329 young players.
After defeating Andrey Esipenko in the final round, Mohammad Amin Tabatabaei has become the winner of Aeroflot Open 2024. The Iranian grandmaster, who had started off with a loss, went on to score 7.5 out of 9 points, winning three games in a row at the home stretch.
Andrey Esipenko (Russia), Nodirbek Yakubboev (Uzbekistan), Haik Martirosyan (Armenia), and Denis Lazavik (Belarus) have scored 6.5 points apiece. This is the order in which they have been ranked by additional tie-breakers.
The best result among female players has been achieved by Bibisara Assaubayeva (Kazakhstan) – 5.5 points.
Taking place same time with the international open tournament was the stage of the Russian Youth Cup "Aeroflot Open - Children". We give you its winners and prize-takers:

1-2. Bogdan Golovchenko (St. Petersburg), Maxim Ivannikov (Moscow) – 8 out of 9 points; 3. Taimaz Temirbekov (Republic of Dagestan) – 7 points;

1-3. Ulyana Dudkina (St. Petersburg), Diana Khafizova (Moscow), Alisa Chernyshova (Perm Krai) – 7 points each;
U13, open:
1. Ruslan Gadzhiev (Republic of Dagestan) – 8 points; 2. Matvey Pyatnitsyn (Nizhny Novgorod Oblast) – 7.5 points; 3. Andrey Babochkin (Moscow) – 7 points;
U13, girls:
1. Tatiana Mozolevskaya – 7.5 points; 2-3. Alisa Genrietta Yunker (both of Moscow), Maria Kalugina (Samara Oblast) – 7 points.
Sergei Aleksandrovsky, CEO of Aeroflot, and Andrey Filatov, President of the Chess Federation of Russia, took part in the awards ceremony.
Nikita Stepanov, General Director of the Kadun company, presented Alexander Tkachev, Executive Director of the Chess Federation of Russia, with the vintage chess set "Ballet".
The Aeroflot Open International Chess Tournament was organised by the Chess Federation of Russia and the Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation with the support of Aeroflot. The general partner of the CFR is PhosAgro, the partner of the CFR is Sima-land, the partner of the CFR is Kadun. The media partner of the tournament is a social network Odnoklassniki.
